Guy served for many years as a Distinguished Teaching Professor at SUNY-ESF, before passing away in 2012. He was a generous educator and passionate researcher and advocate of waterfowl and wetlands, and his colleagues have worked to honor his memory with the restoration of this marsh within the Montezuma Wetland Complex.
Thanks to generous donations and volunteer efforts, most of the construction has been completed, and the marsh is already popular with waterfowl and other marsh-nesting birds. This past spring, three SUNY-ESF Landscape Architecture students and faculty member Tony Miller contributed by designing spaces for outdoor classrooms and learning.
This summer the DEC anticipates the completion of phase 1 of the restoration plan. If you wish to contribute toward phase 2, you can visit the Friends of Montezuma site at http://www.friendsofmontezuma.org/guys-marsh.html
